Ava and Mao met in 2020.

Ava then practiced shamanism for several years and, trained as a psychologist, accompanied her clients in her treatment practice. Mao, a polyinstrumentalist, was offering sound journeys at the time, and they met within a first musical project.

It was then in Mexico that the music of Mariguar was truly born, where Ava and Mao settled for several months to create, inspired by their own healing paths, in connection with shamanism and nature. Accompanied by the totems of the Butterfly and the Jaguar, they explored the dimensions of consciousness available to them and, inspired by these experiences, wished to translate their medicine into sounds and words.

The butterfly – La Mariposa – invites transformation and the awakening of consciousness.

The jaguar - El Jaguar - offers strength and courage when exploring the shadows.

MARI – GUAR is thus the fusion of the two medicines and therefore invites the awakening of consciousness and the courage to explore one's shadow.

AVA

In 2020, I had a dream that has guided me ever since: in a trance alongside a shaman, a spirit entered my body and I sang a wonderful melody that reminded me of who I was.

Since then, dedicating myself to music has been the path that calls my soul.

"I sing for us to remember" is the key phrase that stayed with me from this dream, with the realization that music is for me a way of communion with the eternal.

My practice of shamanism allows me to connect with the cosmos and I receive inspiration for my life from it, in the form of songs.

My intention with Mariguar is to create music that supports our transformational processes, our faith, and our connection to nature.

MAO

I have always loved discovering myself through music.

I quickly learned, as an autodidact, to play several instruments, such as guitar, flute and percussion.

I met Ava at a time in my life when I was beginning to unfold my universe with sound journeys.

Our meeting was the spark that awoke in me spaces of creativity linked to shamanism, which I had already encountered before in my life.

Our trip to Mexico revealed many things, including our desire to co-create medical music that can bring vibrations of love and strength into our lives.
